The 49th Roshd Int’l Film Festival in Iran announces nominees.

The 49th edition of the Roshd International Film Festival in Iran has announced nominees.

All the nominees at the students section (eight titles) as well as the instructors section (seven titles) are from Iran and India.

A total of five titles from Iran and Japan are nominated at the animation section while the five nominees at the feature section are from Iran and Germany.

The festival’s short film section has nominated nine titles from Iran, Mexico, Spain, and Turkey.

A total of eight titles from Iran, Malaysia, Spain, Ukraine, Indonesia and the US are nominated at the documentary section.

Opened by Hamid-Reza Qotbi’s feature ‘That Night's Train’ from Iran, the 2019 Roshd is hosting more than 140 films from Iran and across the world in Tehran’s Felestin movie theater.

According to a press release, 85 Iranian films and 57 films from 25 countries have been competing at the festival’s 2019 edition.

The festival’s director Vahid Golestan pointed out that the films were selected from a pool of more than 2600 submitted films during the selection process.

The films are competing at sections of animations, documentaries, short films, feature films, and films created by student filmmakers and instructor filmmakers.

Founded in 1963, the Roshd International Film Festival is Iran’s first and longest standing global film event.

The festival’s main goal is to exchange educational films globally with the main theme being science, education, and ethics.

The 49th Roshd has been slated for November 15-22, to be followed by screenings in other provinces on November 23-May 8.
